The 51-year-old specialist in endovascular therapy for complex aortic aneurysms had been working at St. Franziskus-Hospital for 16 years and had been the head vascular surgical senior physician since 2010.

🔹His professional achievements continued with appointments as Senior Physician and Chief Senior Physician, coupled with additional qualifications in Phlebology. International observations at renowned institutions, including the Cleveland Clinic and the University of California, San Francisco, enriched his expertise. In academia, Dr. Austermann obtained his doctorate in 1997 and has since been actively involved in advancing endovascular techniques for aortic aneurysm and dissection treatment.

🔹He has led numerous publications and multicenter studies, becoming a reviewer for the Journal of Endovascular Therapy. In 2016, he achieved Habilitation, focusing on the development of endovascular aneurysm treatment.
