🔹Prof. Dr. Georg Gradl, a father of four, born in 1969, began his professional career after completing his medical studies at LMU in Munich in 1995 in the trauma surgery department in Großhadern and completed his doctorate in 1998.
🔹His career was significantly influenced by the spinal surgery department there. To deepen his knowledge, Prof. Gradl spent a year at the University Hospital Basel, which is considered the birthplace of trauma surgery. In 2000, he took on the challenge of helping to establish a trauma surgery department at the University Hospital Rostock.
🔹Since then, the department has tripled its surgical procedures and is now a regional maximum care provider. In 2006, Prof. Gradl completed his habilitation at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Rostock, and he assumed his professorship in 2011. The main focus of his previous work has been the care of severely injured patients, pelvic and spinal surgery, and reconstructive foot surgery.
🔹Due to regional and demographic factors, sport injuries and geriatric trauma played a significant role in the treatment in Rostock. Minimally invasive techniques in spinal surgery are particularly important to Prof. Gradl, and he has introduced and further developed them in the trauma surgery department. In his scientific work, Prof. Gradl is also involved in bone regeneration in the aging population and modern age-specific implant technology.
🔹He has chaired international congresses on these topics over the past two years. He serves as the Vice President of the Küntscher Society and has published over 60 articles listed in Medline and holds 12 patents.
