🔹Prof. Dr. med. Jens Werner has established an illustrious career path that reflects his extensive medical journey. He embarked on his medical studies spanning from 1986 to 1993, encompassing prestigious institutions such as the University of Heidelberg, Birmingham (UK), and Baltimore (USA). Following this, he completed his internship at the Surgical University Hospital in Heidelberg in 1993 and received his doctorate from the University of Heidelberg in the same year. His dedication to medicine was further solidified with the acquisition of his medical license in 1994.

🔹Dr. Werner's commitment to research is evident from his role as a Research Assistant at the Surgical University Hospital in Heidelberg, working under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Ch. Herfarth from 1994 to 1995. Dr. Werner's international exposure and academic pursuits took him to the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA, where he underwent a fellowship under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Andrew L. Warshaw from 1995 to 1997. Upon returning to Germany, he continued his research endeavors at the Surgical University Hospital in Heidelberg under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Ch. Herfarth, a role he held from 1997 to 2001.

His academic achievements culminated in a habilitation in 2001, and he continued to contribute significantly as a Senior Physician at the Department of General, Visceral, and Transplant Surgery at the University of Heidelberg from 2002 to 2013, under the direction of Prof. Dr. M.
