🔹Prof. Dr. med. Thomas Lempert, born in Miehlen/Taunus in 1960, embarked on his academic journey in 1978 when he graduated from Canisius Kolleg/Gymnasium in Berlin. He continued his education in medicine at the Free University of Berlin from 1979 to 1985, with a significant study visit in the USA at Good Samaritan Hospital, University of Arizona/Phoenix in 1983.

🔹In 1986, he achieved a major milestone by passing the American state examination (ECFMG) - clinical part. His early medical career included serving as an assistant doctor at the Neurological Clinic at Klinikum Charlottenburg in Berlin (under the guidance of Prof. Janz) from 1986 to 1987.

🔹Dr. Lempert's dedication to neurology became evident when he completed his medical doctorate (Dr. med.) at the Neurological Clinic in 1987, under the supervision of Prof. Schmidt. The topic of his doctoral thesis was "Toxic Plasma Concentrations of Phenytoin and Phenobarbital in the Treatment of Epilepsy.

🔹Following this, he undertook a research stay and clinical work at the Neurological Clinic Großhadern, Munich, under the mentorship of Prof. Brandt from 1987 to 1989. Subsequently, in 1989, he worked as an assistant doctor in the Epilepsy Clinic at Klinikum Rudolf Virchow, Berlin, under Prof. Schmidt, focusing on epilepsy clinic and EEG training.

🔹From 1990 to 1992, Dr. Lempert held the position of Senior Resident (Funktionsoberarzt) and further expanded his experience as an assistant doctor in the Psychiatry Department at Krankenhaus am Urban, Berlin (under Dr. Trostdorf) from 1992 to 1993.

🔹He then returned to Rudolf Virchow Klinikum under the guidance of Prof. Poewe in 1993 as a Senior Resident (Funktionsoberarzt). In 1994, Dr. Lempert became a specialist in neurology and embarked on a research stay at the MRC Human Movement and Balance Unit of the National Hospital for Neurology in London from 1994 to 1996, supported by a research fellowship from the DFG (German Research Foundation).

🔹His research focused on disorders of the otolithic system, under the mentorship of Prof. Bronstein and Prof. Marsden. In 1997, he earned his habilitation with a thesis on "The linear vestibulo-ocular reflex and disorders of the otolithic system," gaining teaching authorization.

🔹Dr. Lempert continued his career as a Senior Physician at the Neurological Clinic of Charité, Campus Virchow Klinikum in Berlin from 1996 to 2003, working under the supervision of Prof. Einhäupl. His dedication to the field of vestibular disorders became apparent as he established and led the specialized clinic for dizziness and balance disorders and the research group "Vestibular Disorders."

🔹In 2003, he received an appointment as an extraordinary professor at Charité, marking another significant milestone in his academic journey. Since 2003, Dr. Lempert has been serving as the Chief Physician of the Neurological Department at Schlosspark-Klinik.

🔹His contributions to the field have been recognized, as evidenced by his appointment as a member of the Classification Committee for Vestibular Disorders of the international Bárány Society since 2009.

🔹In 2020, he assumed the role of Medical Director of Schlosspark-Klinik, further cementing his legacy as a distinguished figure in the field of neurology and vestibular disorders.
