🔹Professor Albert Ludolph has been the Medical Director of the University Hospital for Neurology at the University of Ulm since 1996.
🔹He is internationally recognized as an expert in motor system degenerations, such as the fatal nerve disease Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
🔹Professor Ludolph's research interests span from the genetic foundations of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis to the optimal clinical care of ALS patients, as well as the development of new medications and therapies.
🔹Due to the degeneration of motor neurons, ALS patients lose control over their movements, speech, and eventually their breathing, leading to their demise. For a long time, there were no effective treatments, but now, medications are slowing down the progression of the disease.
🔹Additionally, insights into nutrition and ventilation are improving the quality of life for these patients.
