🔹Prof. Dr. med. Alfred Königsrainer's educational journey began at J. Staffler Primary School in St. Leonhard Passeier, South Tyrol, followed by A. Stifter Middle School in Bolzano, South Tyrol. He completed his high school education at the Scientific Gymnasium-Lyceum Bolzano, earning his High School Diploma in July 1974. His medical studies took place at Leopold-Franzens University in Innsbruck, culminating in a Doctor of Medicine Degree in November 1979.

🔹He also underwent the Italian State Examination in Bologna in April 1980. In the realm of postgraduate training, Dr. Königsrainer completed an internship at Merano State Hospital in South Tyrol from December 1, 1979, to November 30, 1980. During this period, he gained experience in gynecology, general surgery, and internal medicine. Subsequently, he commenced specialist training from January 1, 1981, to June 30, 1987, at the I. University Clinic for Surgery in Innsbruck, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. F. Gschnitzer. This comprehensive training encompassed various surgical domains, including general, vascular, pediatric, and transplant surgery, as well as surgical endoscopy. Dr. Königsrainer achieved the distinction of becoming a Specialist in Surgery in June 1987.

🔹He continued his career as a Senior Physician at the University Clinic for Surgery in Innsbruck, working under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. F. Gschnitzer, starting from October 1, 1987. His academic achievements included the habilitation he completed on December 9, 1991, in General Surgery at the University Clinic for Surgery in Innsbruck. The focus of his habilitation thesis was on "Experimental and Clinical Investigations on the Immunological Monitoring of Pancreas Allotransplants." As of March 31, 2004, Prof. Dr. med. Alfred Königsrainer held the position of Deputy Head of the Clinical Department for General and Transplant Surgery at the University Clinic for Surgery in Innsbruck, where Prof. Dr. R. Margreiter served as the Head.
