🔹Prof. Dr. med. Christian Schlensak, born in 1968, is the Medical Director and Professor at the University Clinic for Thoracic, Cardiac, and Vascular Surgery at Eberhard Karls University Tübingen.
🔹He is also a certified pediatric cardiac surgeon. Christian Schlensak studied human medicine at the University of Essen and completed his specialist training in cardiac and vascular surgery after earning his doctorate in 1996.
🔹As a heart specialist, he conducted research stays at institutions such as the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Harvard Medical School, Dept. of Cardiovascular Surgery in Boston, USA, and the Hospital For Sick Children, Division of Cardiovascular Surgery in Toronto, Canada.
🔹In 2008, he performed the first infant heart transplant in Baden-Württemberg. As part of the "Kinderherzen retten" (Save Children's Hearts) initiative, which he co-founded, Christian Schlensak conducted numerous surgical missions to Asia and Central America.
🔹In 2011, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from Universidad Autonoma De Santa Anna, El Salvador. As a co-founder and board member of the German Heart Competence Center Tübingen, he is part of the executive board of the German Society for Thoracic, Cardiac, and Vascular Surgery (DGTHG).
