🔹Prof. Dr. med. Matthias Karck has been serving as the Chair of Cardiac Surgery at Heidelberg University Hospital since October 2006.
🔹In June 2002, he achieved the position of Associate Professor at the Hannover Medical School. From July 2001 to October 2006, he held the role of Senior Physician and Deputy Director in the Clinic for Thoracic, Heart, and Vascular Surgery at the Hannover Medical School.
🔹In May 1998, he received recognition as a Specialist in "Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery" from the Medical Association of Lower Saxony. In February 1997, he also gained specialist status in "Vascular Surgery."
🔹From July 1996 to June 2001, he worked as a Senior Physician in the Clinic for Thoracic, Heart, and Vascular Surgery under the guidance of Prof. Dr. A. Haverich at the Hannover Medical School. During this period, he was also recognized as a Specialist in "Surgery" by the Medical Association of Lower Saxony.
🔹His extensive residency training in specialist surgery encompassed several areas at the Surgery Center of the Hannover Medical School and the University Hospital of the Christian Albrechts University of Kiel.
🔹This training covered Visceral and Transplantation Surgery under Prof. Dr. R. Pichlmayr, Thoracic, Heart, and Vascular Surgery under Prof. Dr. H. G. Borst, Surgical Intensive Care Medicine under Prof. Dr. H. G. Borst, Trauma Surgery under Prof. Dr. D. Havemann, and General and Thoracic Surgery under Prof. Dr. B. Kremer, spanning from 1987 to 1996.
🔹He also worked as an Assistant Physician in the Clinic for Heart and Vascular Surgery under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. A. Haverich at the Christian Albrechts University of Kiel from April 1993 to July 1996.
🔹In addition, Prof. Dr. med. Matthias Karck gained research experience during his time as a Research Assistant at Hadassah University Hospital in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv University/Israel under the supervision of Prof. Dr. G. Uretzky, Prof. Dr. J. Borman, and Prof. Dr. G. Navon from November 1989 to November 1990.
